It’s time for another Sensory Bin Challenge hosted by Little Bins for Little Hands! This months sensory material is corn! The premise of this challenge is to set up a bin of sensory filler such as rice or dirt and allow the child to lead the play instead of merely participating in the customary themed sensory bin.
Child-led Sensory Play with Corn
The sensory material for September is corn. I picked up a bag of clean dried corn used as bird feed at the local farm supply store. You could also use popping corn for a fun sensory experience.
Caden was really enjoyed the feel of the corn sensory bin and dug right in! He loved the feeling of the corn sifting through his hands and explored the bin like this for a few minutes.
Then Dad joined the fun and not knowing the rules of the sensory bin challenge suggested Caden add some tractors to the corn sensory bin! tsk! tsk! tsk!
Caden enjoyed the rest of his play time driving his tractors through the corn and burying them.

Corn sounds like an interesting sensory material – we haven’t tried that one yet. (By the way, I love his roadway rug!)

Corn was the first sensory bin we ever made, and it is still played with weekly!
