Want to create memories with your kids this holiday season and do Christmas crafts and activities with them but feeling over-whelmed with the amount of ideas all over Pinterest? Me too! That’s when I had the idea put together a Christmas Activity Jar! Similar to this OT at Home Activity Jar from And Next Comes L. {This post contains Amazon Affiliate links for your convenience.}
How to Make an Activity Jar
One afternoon during Caden’s nap I browsed Pinterest and wrote down the ideas I liked and wanted to do with Caden on craft sticks using metallic permanent markers. Then I put them in a jar and dressed up the jar with a little ribbon! Done! Now I’m feeling some relief knowing that I won’t have to wrack my brain thinking of something fun and festive to do each day when Caden asks “What are we gonna do today?”
I had some criteria for the activities I put in the jar. First, I had to have the supplies already. No writing a list of supplies needed to do the crafts and going shopping. Second, they had to be simple. I don’t want to have to look up instructions for how to do the craft or activity.
I made up 30 craft sticks with all different Christmas crafts and activities. That way there are plenty of activities to do between now and Christmas! And since we probably won’t do an activity everyday, there are enough to choose more than one each day!
I’m not going to share our list of activities because it’s up to you to decided what crafts and activities are doable for your family. But I will probably share a great deal on Instagram, so follow us there to see what we are up to! And please check out my two Christmas activity boards on Pinterest for ideas!

How to Use the Activity Jar
To use the jar is very simple, just put it out on your craft table, or kitchen table (like us!) and instruct your kids to pick out a craft stick when they ask “What are we going to do today?”. Then you read the activity and make some memories! I just have one rule for myself, which ever stick Caden chooses is what we will do, no going back and switching out the activities because I don’t feel like doing that one. 😉
Happy Holidays!

What great ideas….love this for my little guys, especially when we are cooped up inside because of Chicago’s chilly weather!

This is a great idea! Crafts and activities should be fun, not an extra reason to stress this season. This seems like a great solution!
