Welcome to special STEM Saturday Blog Hop! This week we have all decided to share activities using candy gumdrops! There are so many things you can do with candy gumdrops from engineering structures to chemistry and even math! Be sure to check out the links at the bottom for more STEM ideas using gumdrops!
For our STEM with Candy Gumdrops activity I have created a fun and festive gingerbread & gumdrops grid game! Grid games are really easy to make and customize, you can read all about it in my How to Make a Math Grid Game with Stickers post. For these game boards I couldn’t find stickers that I liked, so I used Picmonkey.com to design them with their graphics! You can download this free printable here!
Preschoolers are drawn to play with anything that is new and Caden definitely took the bait on this one! He was very excited to play with and eat some gumdrops! This was his main motivation for sure! Whatever works, right?! ๐
Since we’ve played grid games before he knew just what to do! Right away he rolled the die, counted two dots, picked up two gumdrops, and placed them on his game board without any help! I was definitely impressed with how quickly he has learned these new math skills!
We continued to take turns playing the game until our spaces were filled with gumdrops. We had so much fun working on counting and one-to-one correspondence skills that we played it again later in the week! Now I call that a win!
And now it’s time for the STEM with Candy Gumdrops Blog Hop!

This looks really fun! We need to make one with the leftover gumdrops from our gumdrop Christmas tree building.

Cute game, and who wouldn’t want to eat the gumdrops!

My girls would love this! Especially if it meant eating candy afterwards.
