I first read about a Christmas Book Advent from Alison over at Oopsey Daisy, and I knew it was something I wanted to do with Caden. This is the first year I am doing a Book-a-Day Christmas Countdown and I am very excited! The idea is to read one book a day and do a craft or activity to go along with the book in the 24 days leading up to Christmas.
I wrapped the books up, even though most of them are library books. I think it makes it more special and Caden has enjoyed unwrapping one everyday.
The first book we read was The Elf on the Shelf. I placed our elf in Caden’s room on his rocker during his bath and he found it before bed.
While Daddy read the book, Caden played with his new friend. I know touching the elf isn’t “allowed” but Caden doesn’t really understand the story and really wasn’t interested. We are just having fun with the elf playing hide and go seek every morning (or afternoon if I forget to relocated him after bed).
I didn’t plan an activity do go with this book. I figured finding the elf was activity enough.
