Planning some fun Christmas themed lesson plans for your preschoolers? This Christmas LEGO Grid Game is the perfect addition to practice math skills! Use it to work on counting, number recognition, one-to-one correspondence and taking turns with your preschooler!
Christmas LEGO Grid Game
The Christmas LEGO Grid Game is an easy to build math game using our favorite manipulative material, LEGO! Preschoolers will love playing this game during the holiday season! All you need is some basic LEGO and some Christmas LEGO sets to create this festive math game!
- 2 16×16 LEGO basesplates
- Christmas LEGO Sets
- 1×4 white LEGO plates
How to Set Up:
- Build two playing boards by creating a 9-grid on each baseplate using the white 1×4 LEGO plates.
- Then use LEGO bricks and and an optional Christmas LEGO set to build some Christmas presents, Christmas minifigures and other Christmas themed items to use as game markers.
How to Play:
To play this game is very simple for preschoolers and a fun way to work on early math skills such as counting, number recognition and one-to-one correspondence! Players take turns rolling the die and placing that many Christmas gifts or minifigures on the grid game board. The first player to fill all the squares on their grid is the winner!
Other Ways to Play:
You can also use one 9-grid game board to play tic-tac-toe! But instead of using X and O, use LEGO Christmas gifts and minifigures! This would also make a great busy bag, just store it in a gallon size plastic zip baggie. It would be fun to take on outings to doctor’s offices or restaurants to keep your preschoolers quiet and busy while you wait!
