On Saturday Jay and I took Caden to Jaswell’s Farm a local apple orchard in Smithfield, Rhode Island. It was a beautiful afternoon, the sun was shinning and the temperature was just right to picking apples!
Caden is your typical little boy who loves being outside! He was totally in his element, running between the trees, picking up fallen apples (and a pinecone?!) and kicking up dirt! His first lesson of the trip was not to eat the rotting apples that had fallen on the ground. Once we established that rule, he got into picking the apples.
It was hard to find apples that were low enough for him to reach, but we found a couple. Once he picked his apple, he then proceeded to take a bite! I must admit they were tasty apples! But we didn’t want to bring home half eaten apples. This was lesson number two put the apples in the bag.
We gave Caden one apples to munch on as we walked through the trees searching for ripe apples to pick. This seemed to solve our apple eating issue.
While at the orchard, we observed some apples. Seeing how they grew in clusters high in the trees and that sometimes the leaves get picked too!
We also used the beautifully natural surrounding to attempt to take some family pictures.ย We didn’t get any good ones of all three of us, but I did manage to get some of Caden and a picture both Mom and Daddy.
We had a lot of fun at the apple orchard! It totally made up for getting lost on the way! I am so glad we didn’t give up, turn around and head back home. ๐
