We love being outside in nature and are lucky to live on almost three acres of land in the country! A large part of our property is wooded land that we love to explore! About a year ago my son decided to name our trails, so I thought it would be fun to add some trail signs to our backyard! This is a simple craft to make your own arrow trail sign to add some fun and whimsy to your backyard!

Arrow Trail Signs Craft
Making your own Arrow Trail Sign is very simple and easy for kids of all ages! All you need is a few supplies from your local craft store. I’ve included links below for your convenience.
Supplies
- Wood Arrow Cutout (I found mine at Target)
- Acrylic Paint
- Sponge Brushes
- Small Paint Brush
- Clear Acrylic Sealer
Set Up
Set up your work area by putting down some newspaper or some sort of drop cloth for easy clean up! Gather your supplies and invite your children to get creative!
How To
Once your work area is set up, invite your children to paint the wooden arrow using the sponge brushes with whatever color or colors of acrylic paint they would like! Once a nice coat of paint is covering your wooden arrow allow it to thoroughly dry. When the paint has dried you can use another color of acrylic paint with a small paint brush to paint the name of your trail on the arrow.
To Install
There are a couple of ways you can install your arrow trail sign. We used a long screw to permanently attach it to a tree near our trail head. You could also use a hammer and nail. Another way you could hang your sign would be to attach wire or string to your sign and hang it on a tree branch. This is a great option for renters, if you are worried about damaging the tree or if you don’t have an electric screw driver.
