Welcome to STEM Saturday! STEM activities include Science, Technology, Engineering and Math! I’m so excited to be sharing another fun, hands-on, preschool Math activity this week! Next week I have a Christmas Science experiment planned!
This Leaf Number Hunt & Match game is very simple to set up. I simply used a black permanent marker to draw dots on some large foam leaves. I created pairs of dotted leaves using numbers one through five. Then I hid all the leaves throughout our living room/play room.
Caden had so much fun running around the room searching for leaves! I didn’t tell him that I had hidden the leaves, but waited for him to spot one and ask what it was. Then I told him there were more hiding in the room. That created a lot of excitement!
After Caden found all the leaves, I helped him match up the leaves with the same amount of dots on them. He needed help with this activity because it was the first time we played and he hasn’t had much practice with counting. An older child or a child with more math skills should be able to do this, no problem!

What a fun preschool activity! This would be great for all types of early math and literacy. And I’m sure the kids will want to play it over and over again 🙂
