Remember back in April and May I wrote about how I was going to prepare Caden for a big move? Well that time has finally come! Our house is finally now under contract (it seemed like it took forever!) and we have also signed a contract to buy a house in New Hampshire! We are very excited! But I am also very nervous about how Caden will adjust to living in a new house, in a different state, and being away from everything he has ever known.
We have already started the process of helping him adjust. We have talked with him a bit about moving over the past week. How we are going to pack up all of our stuff and load it into a big truck. (He likes trucks, so moving day will be exciting for him.) We have shown him pictures of the house and he seems pretty excited about the backyard and the abutting woods! Hopefully that will help him adjust.
I’ve picked up one of the books from my 10 Books about Moving list and plan to read it to him often, as well as some others. I have also put up a calendar at his eye level and bought some fun stickers so we can count down the days until we move! I am hoping to get him really excited! Another thing I have done to amp up his excitement is buy him new bedding for his new room! I hope he likes it!
Other than getting him excited about moving, I plan to get his new room all set up right away and try to keep his routine as normal as possible. He will also have a playroom on the main level which I hope will be helpful as we unpack.
Please forgive me if I disappear for the next two months. We have a month to pack up our house and then I’m sure there will be a period of adjustment that will last a month or two. I have several posts in my queue that I hope to get posted before we move, but I probably won’t be doing much else to blog about what with packing and moving and all.
