Snowball Pick-Up & Transfer

Happy Fine Motor Friday! My co-hosts (Lalymom, Craftulate, School Time Snippets, Little Bins for Little Hands, P is for Preschooler, Racheous, Still Playing School, House of Burke and new this week Powerful Mothering) and I are excited to share fun activities for toddlers and preschoolers that help build fine motor skills every Friday. Snowball Pick-Up & Transfer isn’t a new idea, I’ve shared this idea before with my Pumpkin Pick-Up in October and Christmas Ornament Pick-Up in December. But I really like they way I can simply change up the theme of this game to give it some new life and make it interesting again for Caden.

Snowball1

This version is especially fun because you can have an indoor snowball fight to get the wiggles out and burn some energy and then use the tongs to pick up all the snowballs!

I enjoy setting up fun trays for Caden to play with all month-long. This month I’ve also set up a Snowball Transfer tray using these tweezers we recently got! I had high hopes for these tweezers but they don’t seem to work well with little pompoms.

The idea is to match up the pompoms on either side of the ice cube tray using the tweezers. Caden wasn’t interested in matching them up on this day & found that using his hands to transfer the pompoms was easier than using the tweezers.

Two great ideas! Nice job. Liam always finds it easier to use his hands too, haha!

So cute, my daughter is obsessed with snowballs ever since her and her Daddy had a “snowball fight”. The other day she found some large white pom poms and we totally have an impromptu indoor snowball fight!

Smart kid – they learn quickly that hands are easier, don’t they? 🙂

Oh this would be a good idea for the styrofoam balls I have from our Build a snowflake activity! I think both kids would really get into having a snowball fight!!

These are great simple ideas. I love that you change the theme up to keep the skill fresh. My daughter has just finally started to show an interest in tongs, so I will be trying these activities. Thanks for being honest about the things that didn’t work well.
