~Caden is 22.5 Months~
Okay, so I’ve procrastinated long enough and now I feel this post is way overdue since we are already half way through this short week. Oh well, here it is anyway.
I have changed our tot school a bit and I have only been planning three days of activities, but I am still including other non-planned activities that we do on the other two days.
One day last week, we played around the house and when I went to grab my camera off the shelf, Caden decided he wanted a “cam” too, so I gave him an old small one. Caden had so much fun walking around the house snapping pictures and looking at the LCD screen. He even set up is own DIY “tripod”.
We also did some painting on Monday. I set up four different fall colors and put a string of yarn in it. Then I showed Caden how to paint with the string.
He wasn’t too interested in the new technique and wasn’t thrilled with the idea of getting paint on his hands. I think I may try this painting technique again but clip some clothes pins on the string so he doesn’t have to touch the paint. So I washed him off and he went to play only to come back to the table to paint with a brush.
We started back up with our Gymboree classes this week. He had a lot of fun running around and playing on the equipment, but he wasn’t interested much in participating in the circle part of the class or in socializing with the other kids.
During the rest of the week we enjoyed reading books about fall before nap time and bed time. Those are the only times when I can get Caden to sit still ans listen so I take advantage of it and get some reading in. We really liked reading Clifford’s First Fall. There are only one or two sentences on each page which means we are turning the pages before he gets bored looking at the pictures. They are perfect for Caden’s short attention span.
I had Caden try gluing paper leaf cut outs. He did well if I controlled the glue and showed him where to stick the leaf, but he was really interested in sticking his finger in the glue so we stopped after four leaves.
Caden found his learn to dress pirate doll at the bottom of a bin. I showed him how to button, snap and zipper. The snap and button were too hard for Caden and he got frustrated, but he was able to work the zipper well.
On Friday we met some friends at the Children’s Museum. This was Caden’s second visit and we had a lot of fun. Caden and his friend were really into the water play room and we spent most of our time in that room getting soaked. Caden also enjoyed pretending in the construction zone, ship and store play areas.
After this week, we are going to take a tot school break so I can prepare my plans for Christmas. I am planning something different which should be fun and I am very excited about it!
Happy Thanksgiving!
