Preschool Science

Science Activities inspired by The Carrot Seed

Welcome to the Saturday Science Blog Hop & Link Up co-hosted by Little Bins for Little Hands, P is for Preschooler, Lemon Lime Adventures, Suzy Homeschooler, The Joys of Boys, The Usual Mayhem and yours truly!

I’m running a little late for today’s Saturday Science but I wanted to share with you all what we have done for science as part of our Before Five in a Row study of The Carrot Seed.

After we did our painting with carrots, I cut the tops of the carrots and removed the wilting leaves. Then I placed them in a plate with a little water and we were able to watch the leaves regrow! Pretty cool, huh? For more information check out How to Grow a Carrot Top by Laughing Kids Learn.

We also planted carrot seeds in a small soda bottle. Hopefully when they grow we will be able to observe the roots, like with this root viewer.

And now it’s time for the Saturday Science Blog Hop & Link Up!

I’ve wanted to try that carrot tops activity too! We’ve done it with celery, but never carrots.
